So a friend of mine is getting engaged this weekend. She doesn't know yet, but her man called me and wants me to cook for the "after" celebration. He has rented a gorgeous house on the beach for this soiree' but I have never see it, or it's kitchen. I will be allowed access to the house all day in preparation for the party that evening. I will be cooking for around 15 people and serving around 6pm. What should I make???

I watched some of my recorded shows last night after work and watched Giada make some dishes that looked fabulous. She also had a suggested wine pairing for each.

Those look fun and you can do them ahead of time as an easy appetizer.
What about the figs wrapped in prosciutto for another easy app?

It all looks so good and I'm hungry so I can't stop!
Let us know what your menu turns out to be
xoxoxo
You should make those mini cheesecake things that you made that one night... OMG, so good!
ReplyDeleteYou could also do a simple Brachetta with pita chips and Trader Joe's hummus. Julia also makes these super yummy Goat Cheese with olives and garlic things. You should get the recipe from her, they are very simple.
Let me know how Sat goes :) I'll see ya on Friday. If the party sucks and it too rowdy, I'd also be down to rent or go see a movie. heehee.
Jules - I saw Giada's "Northern Italian" episode and will be making that apricot/walnut crostata for sure! Yum!
ReplyDeleteThe meatball recipe will be PERFECT! I was trying to think of some carnivorous items for the boys that they could eat while standing. I'm thinking that this will probably not be a seated dinner thing.
I'll keep you posted on how the rest of the menu shapes up. (PS. I MISS YOU - when are we all going to live in the same city already?!?)
Tia - I'm thinking about making several different flavors of french macaroons (raspberry, rose, chocolate) with chocolate covered strawberries and a cheese course. I've been wanting to try and make them but needed a reason to put the effort into it. Maybe I'll have you taste test my first batch on Friday... :)
How did everything turn out, Mel?! I'm sure with your mad skills everything went extraordinary! Fill us in & post pics! xx
ReplyDeleteShe said "yes!" It was great. I ended up making the spicy meatballs, making a huge cheese platter and then making all sorts of savory and sweet panini (including nutella, strawberry and banana = amazing). I did red velvet cupcakes and chocolate covered strawberries for dessert.
